Oh Brother!

 
Regardless of their fate at the box-office, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s films display a certain sensibility and technical finesse;  you’d expect that to flow into a film he has produced. But Mrigdeep Singh Lamba’s Teen Thay Bhai turns out to be quite a disappointment, more so because it has three tremendously talented actors.

Everybody seems to have ignored the crucial factor—the script. Was there one? Did anyone read it? Did they find it workable?

Three brothers, all failures in life, can’t the sight of each other, but are forced to spend time together due to a condition in their grandfather’s will. After getting the three Chixy (Om Puri), Happy (Deepak Dobriyal) and Fancy (Shreyas Talpade) into a remote mountain cabin on a snowy evening,  Lamba doesn’t know what to do next. 

The brothers snarl and squabble, the film frequently goes into flashback, but not once does it realize its comic potential.  Had the actors been left to ad-lib they might have come up with a funnier film than this. Not to mention that all gags go on for much too long and all the shouting and just gets on the nerves.

So you have good actors, great DOP (Ashok Mehta), lovely location (Kashmir) equaling a film that remains snowed under with poor gags, lousy lines, and a romantic track (with the spirited Ragini Khanna as a village belle) of no consequence.
